The State University of New York at New Paltz recently posted an advertisement on careers.insiderhighered.com for an open position on campus.

The School of Business at SUNY New Paltz is seeking applicants for the full-time professional staff position of Business Advisor/Coordinator of Evening Services. The advisor would be responsible for providing students with assistance, advising and other services.

According to the announcement, the new advisor is also responsible for promoting the school’s educational activities and events, providing information on services including library programs, leadership activities and career assistance. The advisor would also conduct business workshops and assist in the process of coordinating the Business Plan Contest.

The advisor would also be in charge of advising students on registration, plans of study, degree applications and applications to the MBA program. In addition, the advisor will assist with declaring undergraduate majors, issues related to classrooms and courses, and first-year and transfer orientations.

Dean of the School of Business Hadi Salavitabar said this position used to be part-time and was just recently changed to full-time.

“The half-time position was vacated about a month ago,” Salavitabar said. “The new full-time position will be filled as soon as we complete the search process.”

The announcement lists that applicants must have a Master degree in business, education administration, or closely related areas. It encourages individuals who can bring diverse cultural and ethnic perspectives and experiences to the campus to apply.

Applicants must also show a strong commitment to fostering a culturally diverse atmosphere and advise and mentor all members of New Paltz’s diverse student body.

Those interested can send their applications, which must include a cover letter, resumé, and contact information of three references,  by email to human_resources@newpaltz.edu or by mail.

Application reviews begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
