Three Positions On The Chamber Filled

Three new members were selected to fill the remaining seats on The New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce board of directors.

The chamber of commerce, which is organized to serve others in business and advance the industrial, agricultural and civic interests in New Paltz, has appointed Glen Kubista, Wade Lott and Glenn Sutherland to its board of directors.

“[The Board of Directors] are a collective group of people putting their minds in one big pot to benefit the agency,” Kubista said. “We give input, guidance and figure out ways to better the company].”

Kubista, founder of Glen F. Kubista Associates, a New York based firm that provides consultation to business owners in the areas of liquor licensing, bookkeeping and business management, was nominated by Joyce Minard, the president of The New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce, to join the board of directors.

Although his position as board of director has nothing to do with his profession, Kubista thinks his 31 years of experience in business consulting qualified him for a spot on the board of directors. In the past, he has also served as a member of the Town of Esopus Economic Development Board and was the president of the Kingston Uptown Business Association.

Sutherland, who was also nominated by Minard to join the Board, is President and Chief Executive Officer of Catskill Hudson Bank and is parent Catskill Hudson Bancorp, Inc.  Like Kubista, Sutherland also thinks that his employment background is one of the reasons he was chosen to join the board.

“As a native of Ulster County and with my background in banking and finance, I believe that I can assist the New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce in their current efforts to develop a long-term vision and strategic plan based on viable financial foundation,” Sutherland said.

According to Sutherland, this would not be his first time working with Minard. They worked together on the task force for economic development under County Executive

Michael P. Hein nearly two years ago. Sutherland also serves as board member and secretary for the Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development, and a board member of the Independent Bankers association of New York state.

Kubista and Sutherland were nominated and voted on to the board by other members of the board, said Janet Nurre, communications and program administrator.

Lott was also approved to join the Board. Sales Manager of Clear Channel Radio of the Hudson Valley, Wade Lott Jr. was also selected approved to join the board of directors. Lott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Christian Brothers College and he was managing director of Chancellor Marketing Group’s Philadelphia office.

The three members have high expectations and hope to accomplish many goals.

“We hope to ensure long term continence,” said Kubista. “We [want] to help [The New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce] grow and gain new members.”
