What’s your instrument of choice? Why?

Piano. I’ve been playing it for a long time and I really enjoy all the different stuff you can do with it. I’ve been playing for 13 years.

Who are your biggest influences?

I play classical piano, so Clara Schumann, Marta Agerich. They’re both female pianists. Clara has a great combination of being sweet and then powerful. Marta is a force to be reckon with. She made a name for herself in a man’s world.

Who are you currently listening to?

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. The Growlers. Robert Schumann.

What do you want to do with your degree?

I think I want to go into music therapy for troubled teenagers or adolescents. I think I can be influential and help them a lot. And I want to always keep playing piano.

Any advice for aspiring musicians?

Practice ‘til you feel like you’re gonna die.
