Kanye West uploaded a spree of bizarre Instagram posts about his estranged wife, Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend, Pete Davidson. West has spent the last couple of months publicly trying to get back together with Kardashian. He declared, several times, that “God” would bring them back together, and has claimed that he’s “never even seen” the divorce papers.
In since-deleted Instagram posts, West has insulted Davidson, calling him names including: “garbage,” and “trash.” Fans were most concerned at one post featuring a private message from Davidson that West leaked, in which the SNL comedian reassured him he was not trying to intervene in the lives of West and Kardashian’s children.
“NO YOU WILL NEVER MEET MY CHILDREN,” captioned West.
He continued to post while at the Superbowl: “I WISH MY WIFE WAS WITH ME AND OUR CHILDREN SITTING AT THE 50 YARD LINE @kimkardashian ALWAYS REMEMBER WEST WAS YOUR BIGGEST W.”
While some fans encouraged West’s behavior, others were worried, as he encouraged his fans to harass Kardashian and Davidson if they see them in public.
“IF ANYONE LOVES ME AND MY FAMILY IF YOU SEE SKETE [Davidson] IN REAL LIFE SCREAM AT THE [LOSER] AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS AND SAY KIMYE FOREVER,” he captioned on Instagram.
One Twitter user commented on the situation, “This is terrifying for a woman. He’s threatening violence and demanding her back. This is not okay, any woman who has been in this situation and feared for her life doesn’t think it’s funny, it’s triggering and terrifying.”
West has seemed to stabilize and has recently taken accountability for his comments in a now deleted Instagram post, “I’m working on my communication. I can benefit from a team of creative professionals, organizers, mobilizers and community leaders. Thank everybody for supporting me. I know sharing screen shots was jarring and came off as harassing Kim. I take accountability. I’m still learning in real time. I don’t have all the answers. To be good leader is to be a good listener.”
West revealed he was diagnosed as bipolar in 2017 and has tweeted about going off his medication for the good of his creative process. “I cannot be on meds and make watch the throne level or dark fantasy level music,” he tweeted in December 2018, referencing two of his highly acclaimed albums of the 2010s.
Esmé Weijun Wang, a novelist who has schizoaffective disorder, can relate to West’s strife, “It may be true that mental illness has given me insights with which to work, creatively speaking, but it’s also made me too sick to use that creativity,” she says. “The voice in my head that says ‘Die, die, die’ is not a voice that encourages putting together a short story.”
All of the posts were deleted from West’s Instagram with only two posts advertising his new album, “Donda 2” remaining at the time of this article.
