Friends of Plattekill Public Library are a community service group dedicated to helping the Plattekill Library with various events throughout the year.
I first heard about them through an email for honors students. The group is very welcoming to New Paltz students and would love to get them involved with the library.
The library offers a myriad of activities, from Kids Craft Days to In Person Storytimes and free Narcan training. The training will take place on April 12. The library has also done monthly book sales in the past. The next in person meeting for Friends of Plattekill Public Library will be taking place at 5 p.m. on April 20th.
This is a great place to serve your community in a tangible way through time and effort. Additionally, helping out the library directly benefits the education and imagination of children. You can find them by searching their website, plattekill.lib.ny.us, and going to the Friends of Plattekill section, or by looking for their public Facebook group, which is under Friends of Plattekill Public Library.
April is National Community Service Month. In honor of this, try to do as much for your community as you can!
Past New Paltz Give-Backs are great sources of information on ways to help out or volunteer in the New Paltz community. Check out the library and other organizations. For example, the New Paltz Food Fridge is open year round, as is Hope On A Mission in Poughkeepsie.
This is the perfect opportunity to volunteer and make a difference, and the library is a great place to start!
