Attention New Paltz, it’s officially Fall. We’re moving past this fluctuating “fools autumn” to a true crispy cool fall that reminds us why we love the ever changing north east. Fall has so many fun activities like amazing apple orchards or a headless horseman’s hayride, but this year we’re dusting off our brooms and flying over the river to a new event coming to town!
This Oct. 14, Out Loud Hudson Valley will be hosting an all new event, “Witch Perfect”,in downtown Poughkeepsie. Hosted at the mesmerizing Revel 32, general admission tickets will be on sale for $45, but for an extra $50 you could upgrade to the VIP package that will allow you access to priority seating, a meet and greet and photo with the three queens performing.
The event is going to be a hilarious night with three RuPauls Drag Race stars. Tina Burner (season 13), Scarlet Envy (season 11) and Alexis Michelle (season 9), are coming together to perform a parody of the Halloween classic movie Hocus Pocus. The show will have live singing, ranging from pop hits, to disney classics and broadway ballads. This is going to be a night of pure camp chaos.
James Marcotte, owner of Out Loud Hudson Valley, mentions why he’s excited for this event specifically, “I gave Tina Burner her first weekly drag gig at the brunch that I started. Just being able to work with her again, together, is what I’m most excited about.”
Before the show the owner of Out Loud Hudson Valley, James Marcotte, talked about the event and what it takes to put on a spectacular drag show. Marcotte explained, “These are shows that cost a lot to produce. We’re bringing up three girls from RuPauls Drag race, that’s a big expense. And it’s not just the cost of them performing but it’s also the cost of getting them there here. It’s a lot of moving parts.” It takes a lot to juggle in order to put on an event like this, but Out Loud Hudson Valley makes it seem effortless and easy. They always produce fabulously executed events that both fit their brands message as well as their own.
There’s an overall freshness that Out Loud Hudson Valley is bringing to this area for the queer night life, including drag queens and events that could be found in the city. It means a lot to queer people in the area, and is a a little moment of hope that queer entertainers will be celebrated in smaller parts of the country and not just big metropolitan areas.
