A Playlist For: DJ Lohex Who?

If you know me, you know that I love to show out to Twofers Tuesday at P&Gs on Main Street with my friends. The drink specials are nice and all, the people are perfectly fun, but I’m really there for the music. I can’t dance to save my life, but four-on-the-floor pop music has saved my life plenty of times before. Dance music puts me into a state of mind where I am completely immersed in joy and can escape reality. Especially during the beginning of the pandemic, dance pop music sent me to a time when I was on the dance floor with my friends, enjoying the music and forgetting our worries. I recently saw an Instagram post stating that, “God wants me to be a gay DJ,” and while I don’t know if that is true, I like to think I have a pretty good music taste and would love to DJ a party. I have a very different music taste from my friends, but I do try to share as much of the joy as I can. I am inspired by queer parties, dance mixes and lyrically exciting songs. I grew up loving disco and later found electronic and rap music, and those elements all strongly influence my music taste and what I listen to today. One day, I hope to curate a set list of dance music for people to enjoy and dance to at a party of my own, but for now, here is my playlist of songs I would love to (but probably never will) hear at a party here in New Paltz.
