What They Do

New Paltz Socialists is an independent socialist collective that participates in a variety of struggles for justice and liberation. Through their work, they strive toward a society free of all exploitation and oppression, and built on the principles of solidarity and democracy. The New Paltz Socialists organize for reforms to benefit the working class and the oppressed. They believe that these struggles are building blocks for a movement to achieve a future socialist society.

Name

New Paltz Democratic Women

What They Do

New Paltz Democratic Women is a local grassroots group of politically active women who strive to get the best possible local candidates elected to office. They work to provide opportunities to converse with local candidates and local elected officials, to analyze key issues, to advance public policy, to serve on task forces and to connect with other Democrats. New Paltz Democratic Women believes that “when the number of women participating in politics increases, women will have enough power to promote women-friendly policy changes and to influence men to accept and approve legislation promoting women’s concerns.”

How to Get Involved

Unfortunately, New Paltz Democratic Women does not hold regular meetings. All members serve on various town Democratic Committees. They do hold events to support a candidate or a cause, which they invite people to. The last meeting they hosted was on July 28, a meet and greet for Supreme Court Candidate Cheryl Roberts.
