Name
SUNY New Paltz Global Medical Brigades
What They Do
SUNY New Paltz Global Medical Brigades is a student group whose goal is to educate the campus and the wider New Paltz community on some of the most pressing health issues around the world. These students work with licensed medical practitioners to set up medical clinics in rural areas of the globe that may have inadequate access to health care. These brigades head out to the communities every three or four months to provide their services. In addition to medical services, the Global Medical Brigades aid in projects that promote sustainable living and clean water.

Name
Asian and Pacific Islander Student Alliance
What They Do
The Asian and Pacific Islander Student Alliance is, as the name suggests, an alliance for Asian and Pacific Islander students at SUNY New Paltz. The Alliance’s main goals include creating safe spaces to talk about stereotypes and identity, making the student and academic body aware of issues pertaining to the alliance, forming relationships with other ethnic groups on campus and connecting with universal issues such as women’s and LGBTQIA+ rights. All of this contributes to creating a community where people are able to come together and find their own sense of self among like-minded people.
How to Get Involved
If you are interested in joining this organization, the Asian and Pacific Islander Student Alliance meet in SUB 402 every Tuesday from 8-9 p.m. To stay in touch with their upcoming events, follow them on Instagram @apisanewpaltz and Facebook @newpaltzpisa.
