For those of you nostalgic AMC fans who long for the days of old when you could look forward to new episodes of “Breaking Bad” every Sunday, I’ve got a Netflix original for you that just might satisfy the craving.
Netflix has released two full seasons of “Ozark” comprised of nine hour-long episodes and one 80-minute finale, each. Although this show, starring Jason Bateman and Laura Linney as Marty and Wendy Byrde, is driven more by money laundering rather than direct activity of a drug cartel, it is in my opinion a new, more exciting and intelligent version of the same flavor.
I definitely recommend watching this show either alone or only with a couple of other people because things move fast for the Byrdes as their lives are uprooted by Marty’s decision to launder money for the infamous Del, a ruthless crime lord for a Mexican cartel. The family is forced very suddenly to leave their home in Chicago and relocate to the summer resort community of Osage Beach, Missouri when Marty must make amends by establishing an even bigger laundering operation in the Ozarks, where he soon finds his entire family entangled with local criminals.
Fans of stimulating crime dramas like “Breaking Bad” can rejoice, so add this Netflix original to your list!
