The Men’s swimming team defeated Oswego 141-64 in their first dual meet of the season on Saturday, Nov. 15.
First-year Marc Piliero claimed both the 200 individual medley (2:07.60) and the 100 backstroke (57.75).
Others on the team who took two event wins include fourth-year Jack Spader, who won both the 1,000 freestyle (10:34.06) and the 500 freestyle (5:09.11) and third-year Will Koenig, who claimed the 50 freestyle (22.07) and the 100 freestyle (48.93.)
Piliero said he believes that the team is already working well together as a whole.
“Our energy and enthusiasm for the sport and team is unparalleled,” he said.“We look forward to seeing how much we can progress in our conference, as we have already accomplished so much so early in the year. I know our hard work and dedication will prove extraordinary.”
Head Coach Scott Whitbeck said he has seen much improvement in the team from last year, and that they are looking to work on small aspects in their performances.
“We continue to get in shape and be aggressive and work on little things like starts and turns,” Whitbeck said. “But as far as meets go right now we’re ready and we’re excited to swim fast.”
Third-year Rod Taskindoust said this year’s team has improved faster than last year’s team.
“We’ve made a lot of progress in the past few months and we’re already miles ahead of where we were last year,” he said. “If we want to continue seeing success we need to stay focused and continue being enthusiastic at meets.”
The Hawks will host Vassar College on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 1 p.m. at Elting Pool.
