A Playlist For … A New York Rangers Fan

If you have ever had a conversation with me that has gone over 30 minutes, I’ve probably mentioned the New York Rangers (NYR) at least once.

If you know me further and have seen the inside of my closet, you know I own all black and then a bright blue pair of NYR pajama pants, two jerseys (Kreider and Shesterkin, respectively) and a pair of socks with Matt Rempe’s face on them.

If you have spent an extended period of time with me, you would  know I will be at a party and have the game pulled up on my phone.

It started when I was in high school. My parents and I went to Madison Square Garden to watch the Rangers play the New Jersey Devils (EW). I never knew much about hockey before that, but when gloves were dropped and fists started swinging, I was hooked.

Since that moment, somehow, against all odds, the New York Rangers have taken over my life.

I got my best friend hooked on them too, and when Matt Rempe viewed her story, we both freaked out. When the Rangers lost the Eastern Conference Finals last year, I locked myself in my room and cried. I got texts from friends like a loved one had died.

I learned what icing and offsides are (ask me and I will explain), I have somehow become a fan of players who aren’t even on my team. I know we’re not doing the best this season, but trust me, we’ll pull through.

I love them so much I made a playlist called “The 1994 Theory.”  So, here’s that playlist.
