The semester’s second Council of Organizations meeting was held on Oct. 1 in the Student Union (SU) Multipurpose Room.
Council Chair Rose Faber announced that executive board elections for Student Association Productions (SAP) would take place after an announcement from Vice President of Finance Youssouf Kouyo.
Kouyo informed clubs that a training program will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 10 and Thursday, Oct. 11 to teach members about SA rules, programs, conferences, and the do’s and don’ts. A President, Vice President, or Treasurer from each club or organization must attend the program. The program will take place at 5 p.m. and will last about 30 to 45 minutes, Kouyo said.
The clubs will meet in SU 418 on Wednesday, and Thursday in SU 62/63.
Kouyo said that if a member does not attend, the club will lose funding. Kouyo also said clubs can RSVP to the event by signing up in Student Union 428 or responding to the email that he will send out to inform clubs about the program.
He also announced that a newly elected member of the Budget and Finance Committee could not make the meetings because she had previous commitments. He gave the position to Arabella Green. Kouyo reminded club members that they could ask him about their respective budgets.
SAP Vice President of Programming, Esthephanie Peralta began elections for the different SA committees. Some committees included security and safety, student media, marketing, hospitality and artist management and volunteers. There were 10 positions available and 12 people were nominated.
Each nominee introduced themselves and students were allowed to ask them questions. Peralta said the members would be chosen at the next senate meeting on Oct. 2. She also said that anyone could help to plan an event and that she encouraged volunteers. Peralta said she “wants to keep transparency between the board and student body.”
Faber then asked if anyone would like to make a motion to nominate the candidates in and many of the students raised their hands.
Faber reminded clubs that charters are due on Oct. 12 and announced that the next Council of Organization meeting would be held on Oct. 15.
