In a heated rivalry game, the New Paltz tennis team lost in the title match at the 2011 SUNYAC conference championships on Sunday, Oct. 9 to fellow No. 1 seed SUNY Geneseo by a final score of 5-1. “It was a highly contested match,” Head Coach Robert Bruley said. “It was just a grind; there comes a point where you just can’t win any more matches.” The Hawks flew to the top of the standings this season, finishing 8-2 and staying undefeated while playing at home. Cross Country Goes the Distance

The SUNY New Paltz Cross Country has started their race toward conference glory successfully, with both men and women performing well at the Vassar and New Paltz Invitationals. Most recently the men’s team took third place out of five at the New Paltz Invitational; the women’s team swept first place. “My goals for the season are to finish the women’s team in the top four in the conference as well as top 10 in the region and the men’s team in the top six in the conference and top 20 in the region,” said Head Coach Michael Trunkes. The team has adjusted to harder workouts as their goals become more ambitious. Early on they are moving up the ranks and accomplishing ambitious goals. “We began by beating Oneonta for the first time in history at our first home invitational. Women’s Soccer Gets Defensive

With the dawn of a new season, Colleen Bruley already knows the New Paltz Women’s Soccer team will be fighting for the SUNYAC Championship. Bruley, who has been Head Coach of the team for 15 seasons, said that with new players coming in and being able to close the holes the team had last season, New Paltz has produced “a complete package.” The team currently holds a record of 3-2-0, leaving third-year goalkeeper Stephanie Vega impressed with what she has seen so far. “The team’s play this season is getting better and stronger each day as we continue to practice and play against more challenging teams,” said Vega. “I am impressed by our work ethic and how […]
