Description: Darkside Records, as its name implies, is a record store alongside the Dutchess Turnpike. When you step inside, the first thing you’ll notice is its vibrant black and green color scheme. It’s a very cool atmosphere, giving the store a laid-back, noir-ish vibe. The next thing you notice is its rows upon rows of vinyl records and CDs covering just about every square inch of the shop. That’s not all; they sell posters, t-shirts, cassette tapes, audio-equipment and all kinds of merchandise for any music lover. To top it all off, the store often hosts live music and other music-related events.

Why Go: Darkside Records has a really inviting and relaxed atmosphere and an incredibly wide selection of music. From some of the best names in popular music to the most obscure indie darlings, if you can think of them, Darkside probably has them. The staff is incredibly helpful and they offer great music recommendations. Darkside is one of the most extensive records stores in the Hudson Valley and is always worth a visit.

How to Get There: Darkside is located right across the river. Go across the Mid-Hudson Bridge and get onto the East-West Arterial and then onto Rt. 44. You’ll have to bang a U-turn to get on the side of the road Darkside is located on.
