What to Watch: Sports Edition

Keep up with this week’s important SUNYAC conference games! Our men are heading to the SUNYAC Final Four for the second straight season. On Tuesday, Feb. 21, New Paltz Men’s Basketball played at SUNY Oneonta at 7:30 p.m. This was the first-round matchup for New Paltz and Oneonta men’s basketball in the SUNYAC conference tournament and the Hawks’ third consecutive away game in the past week. The Hawks crushed the Red Dragons, 72-48. New Paltz has a 13-13 overall record and an 11-8 record in the conference. SUNY New Paltz faces Oswego at the Max Ziel Gymnasium Friday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m.

Speaking of Friday, Feb. 24, the New Paltz women’s basketball team will be starting their conference semifinal at 7:30 p.m, New Paltz is hosting the semifinals because they have a buy. The winner will go on to the SUNYAC Championship to play the winner of Cortland’s semi-final game against either Potsdam or Oneonta. The 2023 SUNYAC Women’s Basketball title championship match will take place on Feb. 25th at 4 p.m. New Paltz has a strong record of 22-3 overall and an unbeaten 18-0 in the conference. They have a current winning streak of 19 games. Should they make the Championship, New Paltz will have the opportunity to capture their fourth SUNYAC Women’s Basketball title after winning the championship in 2019, 2020, and 2022.
