Musician of the Week: Eric “Haze” Hazucha

Eric “Haze” Hazucha

YEAR: Second

MAJOR: Communications

MINOR: Music

HOMETOWN: Suffern, N.Y.

What is your instrument of choice? Why?

Guitar. I picked it up freshman year of high school. I was always into rock music and I always wanted to play guitar. So I figured I’d pick it up and learn. At first I’d learn famous songs then I’d make my own stuff.

Who are you currently listening to?

Jimi Hendrix. Sublime. Led Zeppelin. A lot of rap, too. Eminem, J. Cole.

Who are your main influences?

My old guitar teacher. He really got me into it. And the greats, like Hendrix. How creative he is.

What do you play specifically?

I play guitar, sing and rap. I’ve been making this rock/rap thing. Normally, you’d think it’s a normal rock song and then I’d throw in a rap verse to throw everyone off guard. No one’s really doing that now.

What will you do with your degree?

My plan is to not have to use my degree. Sounds stupid but if there was a way for me to make a living with music, I would. With my current major, I can utilize my music and help distribute and promote it so I can use both hand in hand.
